Global tender solicited for Jagadulla hydropower project

KATHMANDU, JUNE 3: A global tender has been solicited for the selection of contractors for the physical construction of the Jagadulla Hydropower Project. The project aims to achieve the goal of “illuminating Karnali.”

Chief Executive Officer of the Jagadulla Hydropower Company, Sanjaya Sapkota, informs that the company has solicited global tenders for the main construction work as well as civil and mechanical works of the project. The company published a notice for the global tender on June 2. According to the notice, interested parties can apply for the tender by August 1, 2024.

The company called for the global tender to expedite project works after completing financial management. A bilateral loan agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet.

Various banks and financial institutions, led by Nabil Bank, are investing in the project. Nabil Bank is investing Rs 4.4 billion in the hydropower project. Other investors include Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited, Citizen Investment Trust, Laxmi Sunrise, and Everest Bank.

“We have taken ahead crucial works on time. It has opened up avenues for completing the project within the stipulated time,” CEO Sapkota shared.

The Jagadulla Hydropower Project, located in the Dolpa district, has a total production capacity of 106 MW. The electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Bafikot substation, to be constructed by the Nepal Electricity Authority.
