Kanchanjunga area receiving visitors with the beginning of spring season

TAPLEJUNG, MARCH 31: Tourists have started to arrive at the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which is a popular destination for trekking, mountaineering, and other touristic activities. Most tourists visit the area twice a year, during the spring and autumn seasons.

With the beginning of this spring season, which runs from March to the first week of June, tourists from both domestic and international destinations are flocking to the area. The hotels along the trekking route have opened their doors to welcome tourists.

In the first season of this year, 650 foreigners visited the area, while the number of domestic tourists was not recorded. Last year, 439 foreigners visited the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council states that 52 hotels are operating on the trekking route leading to the base camp of Kanchenjunga Mountain. Tourism is the major source of income for the communities living in the Kanchenjunga region.
