Govt should take action against those launching attacks against BFIs, NBA demands

KATHMANDU, MARCH 8: : Nepal Bankers Association (NBA) has demanded the government take immediate action against those launching systemic attacks against the banks and financial institutions (BFIs).
In their meeting with newly-appointed Finance Minister Barshman Pun today in the capital, they raise such a demand. “Apart from spreading misinformation that no one should pay bank loans, some elements are launching physical assaults on those bank employees engaged in recovering loans,” the NBA delegation led by its president Sunil K.C told Minister Pun urging him to ensure the needed security to the banking sector without further ado.
In response, he expressed commitment that the government will take those who are provoking the related people to default on bank loans under control. “We understand any serious drop in the confidence level of business/ finance communities will have debilitating impacts on the entire national economy. So, the government is ready to facilitate the private sector to overcome the present chaotic situation.”
On a different note, Pun assured that the pre-scheduled investment summit would not be affected due to the change in the government.
