Standard Chartered Bank contributes Rs 13.3 million to support quake victims
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 3: Standard Chartered Bank recently donated Rs 13.3 million to the British Red Cross to support the victims of the earthquake in Western Nepal.
The funding will help to support the Nepal Red Cross Society in providing first aid and medical assistance, as well as essentials like food, water, and relief items including emergency shelter kits to families who have lost their homes in the earthquake and are exposed to the elements with the winter approaching.
Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited (SCBNL), said, “The damage caused by the earthquake deeply saddens us, and stand in solidarity with the victims. As the only international bank in Nepal, we are in a strong position to be a force for positive change in times of need.”
In the aftermath of this earthquake, which is the largest to impact Nepal since 2015, Standard Chartered has been directly involved in the emergency response to support the victims and their families, including providing food, emergency tents and sleeping bags. The Bank is also raising funds internally to support the Red Cross in this cause.
