Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited holds Correspondent Banking Academy
Kathmandu, Dec 21. Standard Chartered Bank Nepal conducted it’s Correspondent Banking (CB) Academy 2022 on 16 December in Kathmandu, Nepal. This is the third such academy held in Nepal, the last one being pre-covid in 2018.
The event had 110 participants from banks and financial institutions. The session was opened by the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Bam Bahadur Mishra. Mr. Mishra thanked Standard Chartered Bank Nepal for sharing their global exposure and experience to the Nepalese banking industry through the Correspondent Banking Academy.
Ms. Heidi Toribio – Regional Co-Head, Client Coverage, Asia, CCIB of Standard Chartered Bank emphasized the importance of protecting the sanctity of the financial system from AML/CFT risks. Further, the objective of the session through sharing best practices is to de-risk through education.
Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar – CEO of Nepal added this is our third Correspondent Banking Academy in Nepal. These sessions demonstrate our commitment to contributing to the Nepalese banking sector by sharing global best practices for combating financial crime risks. Different speakers from across the Standard Chartered global network shared their expertise on diverse topics.
Mr. Rajkamal Basnet, Head of Financial Institutions, Nepal shared that he is glad to bring the strength of the global network, exposure, and experience to the local market and addressed the forum on the importance of the topics that were covered and that the bank will continue holding such educative and interactive programs regularly.
