Trade deficit declines by over 1.50 percent

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 21: In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, both imports and exports of the country have declined. During the review period, the imports of goods and services went down by 2.31 percent to Rs 897 billion 943 million 800 thousand.

Similarly, the exports of the same saw a decrease of 7.07 percent to shrink to Rs 86 billion 830 million 100 thousand.

From mid-July to mid-February of 2023/24, the total trade deficit stood at Rs 811 billion 130 million 900 thousand. The figure is 1.77 percent less compared to the corresponding period last fiscal.

During the review period, the total trade volume amounted to Rs 984 billion 774 million 800 thousand while the same in the same period in 2022/23 had been recorded at Rs 1 trillion 120 billion 660 million 600 thousand.
