DRI launches investigation into recovery of 16 kg gold bars


Kathmandu, July 28. The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has launched probe into the recovery of 16 kilograms gold bars from a forest at Dharche rural municipality-3 in Gorkha district.

On July 25, a police team from the Machakhola police post found the unattended gold bars in the forest acting on a tip off from Dhankamal Gurung arrested on charge of gold smuggling. A team from the district police office, Gorkha arrested Gurung of Dharche rural municipality-1.

He confessed to the police that he smuggled the gold from Tibet. “The court has extended remand of Gurung by five days. We will file a case at the court after investigations are over,” said director general of the department, Dirgharaj Mainali.
