India ready for prosperity of Nepal: PM Modi

Kathmandu, May 12. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a two-day State visit to Nepal, said that India was ready to support Nepal as per Nepal’s priority and need.

After receiving the civic felicitations by Kathmandu Metropolitan City here this afternoon, PM Modi also committed to providing all kinds of support to Nepal. He added that Nepal’s happiness was the happiness of India as well therefore he will support to make Nepalis happy and prosperous through the mission of development and prosperity.

Prime Minister Modi further shared that projects related to railway, water ways, highway, integrated security check-posts, transmission lines, petroleum pipe lines among others were already forwarded to accelerate the development endeavours of Nepal.

He also said that India was ready to help Nepal’s development like Sherpas as Sherpa help and guide mountaineers in course of summiting the mountains. He also shared that the detail project report (DPR) was being prepared for the railway to link Kathmandu with India.

The Indian PM thanked Nepal for completing three-tier elections within a year. He also praised the cultural and religious assets of Nepal in a metaphorical way.

The Indian head of the government further wished for visiting birth place of lord Buddha, Lumbini in his next visit to Nepal. He said his foreign policy is based on the principle of taking all together.

He also pointed out relations between India and Nepal expanding at people-to-people level referring to Nepali cricket player Sandip Lamichhane, who is inducted into Delhi team, and is playing in the ongoing IPL there.

Attending the civic reception for Indian PM Modi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said India always remains a helping hand in the development of Nepal, while expressing happiness for development activities being carried out under the multidimensional leadership of Modi.

He also showed hope that Indian PM Modi’s high-level visit to Nepal would further deepen and broaden mutual relations between the two countries. He said Nepal could learn from India’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in developing the country’s cities.

On the occasion, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya handed an artistic symbolic key to the city to PM Modi.

He also presented PM Modi an artistic idol of Lord Buddha weighing 50 kilograms and a peacock window.

The function was attended also by ministers of federal governments, Chief Minister of Province 3 and chiefs of diplomatic missions and their representatives.
