“CIAA is investigating into security printing press controversy”

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 27: Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prem Kumar Rai, has said that they are carrying out a probe into the security printing press controversy. In a meeting of Public Accounts Committee held today in the capital, he made such a revelation.

“The controversy is related to the leaking of an audio tape. We are currently investigating whether there is strong evidence to back the case,” he told in the meeting.

The tape was made public in February 2020 in which the then Minister for Information and Communications Gokul Baskota had demanded Rs 740 million commission from the agent of a Swiss company, KBA-Notasys, for establishing a security printing press in Nepal. Becuse of this, he had to resign from the ministerial post.
