Govt fixes minimum support price of winter paddy

KATHMANDU, MARCH 29: The government has fixed the minimum support price of winter paddy (Chaite Dhan). A meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday fixed the minimum support price of winter paddy with moisture up to 18 per cent at Rs 2,728 for the current fiscal year 2080/81 BS. The cabinet decided to keep the minimum support price for winter paddy with more than 18 per cent moisture based on the weight maintained after reducing the weight at the rate of 1200 grams per quintal for one per cent moisture.

The meeting also approved Rs 77.5 billion for the seven provinces and Rs 77.5 billion for the local level as per the revenue-sharing framework and distribution to be provided to the provinces and local level for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Similarly, a fiscal equalization grant of Rs 60 billion for seven provinces and Rs 88 billion for local levels along with an annual report for the fiscal year 2079/80 BS were endorsed.

Moreover, the cabinet appointed Rishiram Bhandari, Rajendra Bahadur Lama and Ram Prasad Sapkota as the executive committee members of the Nepal Tourism Board and promote Dr Hari Prasad Lamsal to the post of Secretary (gazetted special category) under the Nepal Administration Service Grouping.
