Important development works in fast-track: PM Oli

Lalitpur, Sept. 15 . Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the works of some vital projects including Melamchi Drinking Water Project, replacement of tuins and railway services are gaining momentum through fast track.

At a programme organized here Saturday by Jyapu Samaj Yala, the PM added preparations are ongoing for the development of railway project from the neighbouring countries to Kathmandu valley.

“Melamchi water will come to Kathmandu valley soon. It may be muddy in the valley for some two-four months while replacing old pipelines and people should bear difficulties. I am ready even to tolerate the scolds. But the water of Melamchi should be supplied earlier,” the PM shared.

PM Oli was of the view that garbage management of the valley should be carried out in a new fashion adding that all the three districts of the valley needed to work to produce cooking gas and fertilizer from the garbage.

He also said that the replacement of the tuins is also gaining speed adding that 116 tuins have already been replaced from the suspension bridges and remaining 40 others would be replaced.

PM Oli said that the historic Patan city is rich in arts. Calling for developing organic farming, he underscored the need for ending rampant practice of producing and selling substandard food items, referring to numerous people falling sick due to the consumption of adulterated food items.

On the occasion, Chief Minister of Province 3 Dormani Poudel lauded the contribution of Jyapu society to country’s prosperity noting the society has an age-old history.

Communist Party of Nepal leader Pampha Bhusal stressed the need for expanding the Jyapu community to outside the valley, while former lawmaker from Nepali Congress Chandra Maharjan called for the society to engage extensively in development activities.
