KATHMANDU, MARCH 18:Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Dol Prasad Aryal has instructed officials to expedite reforms in the Foreign Employment Information Management System (FEIMS) to enable the issuance of foreign labour permits within an hour of document submission (for such permits. During an interaction program yesterday with the FEIMS system supplier, the Information Technology Section of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, and consultants, he did so.
The FEIMS, implemented by the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) to streamline processes, has faced technical glitches causing significant challenges and economic burdens for migrant workers. In response, Minister Aryal directed stakeholders to streamline the system to ensure applicants receive their foreign labour permits within an hour of document submission from anywhere globally.
Additionally, Minister Aryal suggested exploring alternative solutions if existing challenges aren’t resolved within a month. A team of IT consultants has been closely monitoring the FEIMS system to address these issues effectively.
