Nepal creates history with one-day series win

Kathmandu, Jan 29 . Nepal made history today by winning its maiden One-Day International (ODI) Cricket Series.
Nepal achieved the feat by defeating the United Arab Emirates 2-1 in a three-match one-day international cricket series. After losing the opener, Nepal bounced back to win the back-to-back matches to clinch the series by defeating the hosts.
In the third and final match of the series held today at Dubai-based ICC Cricket Academy, Nepal defeated the UAE by 4 wickets, riding on a maiden ODI century for the country by Captain Paras Khadka.
It was first series win for the country after gaining the one-day status from International Cricket Council, the supreme body of the sport of cricket.
In today’s match, Nepal reached the victory target of 255 runs posted by the UAE at the loss of 6 wickets. Captain Paras Khadka made 115 runs in 109 balls. Captain Khadka also set the history of becoming the first Nepali of making a century in an international ODI.
Similarly, Vice-Captain Gyanendra Malla scored 31 runs while Sompal Kami and Arif Shiekh scored 26 runs and 21 runs remaining not out. Likewise, Binod Bhandari made nine runs, Rohit Kumar Poudel 16 runs and Dipendra Singh Aire six runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, the UAE posted a total of 254 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Captain Paras won the Player of the Match and also Player of the Series award.
Nepal will now play three T20 matches with the same opponent. RSS
