Nepal jump 8 positions up in FIFA ranking
Kathmandu February 4- Nepal jumped eight positions up in the latest FIFA ranking.
According to the FIFA ranking published today, Nepal, with 66 points, is at the 188th position among 209 nations.
Last month, Nepal was placed at the lowest position (196) since they were included in the ranking.
Nepal’s improvement was contributed to their two victories over the Maldives and Sri Lanka and a draw against Bangladesh during the Bangabandhu Gold Cup.
Nepal’s final victory in the Gold Cup over Bahrain, however, was not included in the ranking calculation as the Bahrain team was the U-23 team, not the national one.
While Nepal was the worst performers among the South Asian nations last month, they have left Sri Lanka (189) and Bhutan (193) behind this time.
Ahead of Nepal in South Asia are Afghanistan (154), the Maldives (157), India (162), Bangladesh (177) and Pakistan (185).
Still, Nepal is at the fifth position from the bottom among the Asian Football Confederation members and at the 22nd position from the bottom globally. Source: THT
