Nepal thrash Uganda with 117-run win

Kathmandu October 16- Nepal crushed Uganda by 171 runs in their second match of ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier played at the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

Batting first, Nepal had posted a target of 243 runs. They restricted Uganda to 71 runs in 36.2 overs. Nepal scored 242-7 in their allotted 50 overs. Captain Raju Rijal made 101 runs off 115 balls and vice-captain Aarif Sheikh contributed 54. Rijal hit seven fours and one six to score a significant century, while Sheikh’s half-century included four fours.

Dipesh Shrestha was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with 3-25 in seven overs. Likewise, Aarif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airee and Prem Tamang claimed two wickets each. Sunil Dhamala succeeded in sending one Ugandan player back to the pavilion.

Nepal had started their campaign with a nine-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea yesterday. The United States of America had defeated Uganda by six wickets.
