Gorkhali Cup football championship kicks off

Gorkha, Feb. 19 – The Gorkhali Cup-2070 Football Championship has begun at Gorkha district headquarters from today. The winner team will bag Rs. 100,000 prize.

 

Vice-President of the Harmatari Youth Club, Sandesh Rana, said that the club members constructed a football ground at a cost of around Rs. 2 million.

 

The opening match was held between the Nababuddha Youth Club, Mirkot, and Harmatari Youth Club.

 

According to the organizers, there will be three matches everyday from Thursday.

 

Twenty-two teams from Kathmandu, Tanahun, Lamjung, Chitwan and Gorkha district are participating in the tournament.

 

The club has organised the football tournament with the largest prize amount in the district so far.

 

A knock-out football competition is organised in the name of Gorkhali Cup-2070.

 

The winner team will get Rs. 100,000, a trophy and medals. The first runner-up team will get Rs. 50,000 and two teams reaching semi-final will get Rs. 20,000 each.
