Maria Sharapova at list of top earning sports women

Russia, August 07 – Russia's Maria Sharapova headed the list, published on forbes.com, earning an estimated total of US$29 million (Dh106.5m) between June 2012 and June this year.

 

Forbes has released its annual list of top-earning sportswomen and for the ninth consecutive year, Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova has come out on top. She made $US29 million in the year to June 30, 2012, and is one of seven tennis players in the top 10.

 

The four highest-earning sportswomen last year were all tennis players, according to Forbes. American Serena Williams was second with $US20.5 million while Chinese star Li Na was third with $US18.2 million. Young Belarusian Victoria Azarenka was fourth with $US15.7 million.
