Nepal defeated by Malyasia

Kathmandu, May 11 – Host Malaysia secured third place beating Nepal by six wickets in the third place playoff match of the ongoing ACC U-19 Elite Cup on Saturday.

 

Malaysia reached the 119-run target set by Nepal with more than 11 overs to spare. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Nepali side were all out in 44 overs scoring only 118 runs. Nirmal Thapa (12), Amit Shrestha (32) and Hari Shankar Shah (25) were the only batsmen to show some resistance against the disciplined Malaysian bowling. None other batsmen reached double digit score for their side.

 

Kogilan Muthu took three wickets while Muhammad Syahadat Ramli, Varun Nadesh and Pavandeep Singh took two wickets each.

 

Chasing a low target, 68 balls 34 by Ahmad Tajudin Ismail and an unbeaten 31 by Muhammad Syahadat Ramli steered Malaysian side to the victory in the 39th over. Avinash Karn continued his fine bowling with two wickets but could not save the match for Nepal.

 

Nepal was defeated by UAE in the semi-finals on Friday.Likewise Malaysia was defeated by Afghanistan on same day.
