Bhuwan Karki to lead Nepal in ACC U-19 Elite Cup

Kathmandu, April 25 – The ACC U-19 Elite Cup that will take place in Malaysia from May 1-12 has been decided to led Nepal by Bhuwan Karki. In the Elite Cup Nepal are in Group B along with Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia and Kuwait. The winner of the competition will progress to the U-19 World Cup in 2014.
This is the first time the spinner from the Far-west will be leading a national side. Medium pacer Avinash Karn has been appointed his deputy in the 18-member squad announced by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Wednesday. Nishcal Pandey, Rahul Pratap Singh and Amit Shrestha are three other old faces in the team.
Ramnaresh Giri, Yagya Man Kumal, Irshad Ahmad, Pawan Shrestha and Bibhatsu Thapa also made it to the last fourteen. Likewise, Nirmal Thapa, Sushant Bhari, Prem Tamang and Harishankar Shah broke into the team.
Amit Dahal, Suraj Kumar Kurmi, Abhishek Jha and Sharad Khadka are the four reserve players. According to CAN, the players were selected on merit, based on their performance in the second round of close camp that lasted for a week.
