Mid-Western Regional Sports Festival started
Nepalgunj, April 21 – Four former Olympians and one sports official have been honoured on the occasion of the First Mid-Western Regional Sports Festival organised in Nepalgunj from today.
Ratan Kumar Tandon, and former Olympians—Surendra Bahadur Hamal, Anita Shrestha, Parbati Thapa and Hari Bahadur Rokaya were honoured in the inaugural ceremony of the festival organised by the Mid-Western Sports Development Committee.
Similarly, Nepal Weightlifting Association also honoured Central Member of the Nepal Badminton Association and industrialist Rohit Kumar Tandon.
Rohit Kumar was honoured for his important contribution to the South Asian Weightlifting Competition held in Nepalgunj one month ago.
Member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), Yubaraj Lama, honoured the personalities with commendation letters.
Some 1,200 players will compete in different 16 games including handball, chess, judo, table tennis, badminton and women's football in the Mid-Western Regional Sports Competition held from today under the slogan 'Sports for health and nation'.
Chairman of the Regional Sports Development Committee, Akal Bahadur Bam, said the competition will run until April 24, where different cultural programmes will be presented, and various personalities and bodies will be honoured. RSS
