Karki, Gurung now new board members of NEA

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 4:   Devendra Karki and Mahendra Bahadur Gurung have been appointed as board members of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation made such appointments to fill the vacant positions.

The positions remained vacant after  Kapil Acharya and Bhakta Bahadur Pun were removed from their posts as NEA directors. On July 31, the Minister had asked them to furnish their justifications regarding their non-cooperation towards the implementation of directives related to the dedicated and trunk line dispute. As their explanations were deemed unsatisfactory, they were relieved of their responsibilities on August 2.

Karki is the former secretary of the Ministry of Energy, while Gurung has acted as the former director general of the Department of Electricity Development and former CEO of the Pancheswar Development Authority.

It is said that they have been appointed thanks to their proven expertise and extensive experience in the energy sector.
