Don't run industries that are in a loss, PM Oli directs

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that no state-run industry or corporation should operate at a loss. During a briefing with employees from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, as well as subordinate bodies at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar yesterday, Prime Minister Oli urged them to work towards industrialization, noting that the infrastructure, such as roads and electricity, has already been prepared.
“Employment can be provided to the jobless by modernizing agriculture and establishing start-up industries. Imports can be reduced by increasing production,” he emphasized.
PM Oli added, “Do not force industries to operate if they do not make a profit and produce results.”
He urged that priority should be given to industries related to employment generation and those that contribute to a civilized and healthy society, rather than to industries related to alcohol and tobacco. He directed the authorities to protect those who are carrying out good deeds.
The Prime Minister also encouraged the continuation of the exploration and extraction of minerals and petroleum products, and to develop a plan for industries based on these resources.
Minister for Industry Damodar Bhandari, Chief Secretary Lila Devi Gadtaula, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Raj Kumar Shrestha, and Ministry Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, among others, were present on the occasion.
