'Infrastructure Summit' to be hosted to bring investment in infrastructure sector
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 23 : The fifth Infrastructure Summit is set to be hosted on September 12-13, focusing on exploring investment diversity in infrastructure sectors and fostering an industrial environment.
The summit will be held under the aegis of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) to promote overall economic development by encouraging innovation in the infrastructure sector and creating employment opportunities, as shared at a press conference today. The Investment Board of Nepal will co-host the summit.
'Sustainable Development through Strategic Investment' has been chosen as the main slogan of the summit, which will emphasize infrastructure development as the foundation for building a prosperous economy.
It is noteworthy that Nepal annually requires Rs 2,000 billion to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to details prepared by the National Planning Commission, integrated and collective investment is necessary for infrastructure development.
The CNI's study has highlighted the need for a substantial investment of 130 billion US dollars to attain the SDGs in Nepal.
On the occasion, CNI Chair Rajesh Kumar Agrawal mentioned that the summit would pave the way forward, addressing the resource gap in the infrastructure sector.
