Public tansport sector suffers damage worth Rs 730 million in disaster

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 10 : The incessant rainfall that occurred primarily in the central and eastern parts of the country on September 27 and 28 has inflicted damages worth Rs 730 million in the public transport sector.
According to information shared by the National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs, Nepal, the total damage has been estimated at around Rs 729.80 million.
Among the affected companies, Western Nepal Passenger Bus Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. suffered losses amounting to Rs 118 million, Namaste Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. incurred a loss of Rs 28.5 million, and Gorkha Daraundi Transport Service Company reported damages worth Rs 6 million.
Similarly, the Bagmati Tipper Traders' Association sustained damages of Rs 270 million, the Nepal Truck Tipper Traders' Association incurred losses amounting to Rs 200 million, Mahakali Multi-Purpose Company Pvt. Ltd. faced damages of Rs 66.5 million, and property worth Rs 40 million was damaged at the Rasuwagadi border point.
General Secretary of the Federation, Deknath Gautam, stated that the details of the damage to the public transport sector across the country have been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Transport Management on Wednesday.
