Deal inked to ensure easy availability of air tickets at resonable prices
KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 10: Stakeholders and officials have reached an agreement to ensure the easy accessibility of plane tickets and maintain reasonable fares. The deal was signed yesterday between the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and various stakeholders.
It came in response to public concerns about the high cost of air tickets following the announcement that the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will be closed for 10 hours daily for the next five months, starting November 8.
The discussions included representatives from CAAN, ministry officials, and agents from domestic and international airline companies. As part of the agreement, the right previously given to travel agencies to sell tickets in bulk as ticket booking agents (TBAs) has been revoked. Now, all airline companies must comply with this decision.
Additionally, airline operators are required to set and publicly disclose airfare amounts based on the specific flight routes.
