"Govt will pay to contrators within a week"
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 8: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has described the relationship between the government and construction entrepreneurs as being "like nail and flesh." Speaking at a discussion program organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (NAFIJ) yesterday in Kathmandu, he emphasized that while the government and contractors may operate from different perspectives, their ultimate goal of nation-building is shared.
"We need to define the kind of relationship we aim to foster between the government and contractors. Are we like two banks of a river, standing apart and opposing each other? That approach won’t help us fulfil our responsibilities. I want to emphasize that we are not opposing sides but partners. While we may operate from different places, we share the collective responsibility of building the nation. The relationship between the government and contractors is as interconnected as nail and flesh," Paudel stated.
He also sought to reassure contractors regarding pending payments, urging them not to worry. Paudel pledged that all payment issues would be resolved within a week.
"Don’t be overly concerned about your payments. If you have dues with any ministry or agency, visit them starting tomorrow (Sunday). You will receive your payments within a week. If not, come directly to me and let me know which ministry or agency is withholding your payments," he said.
