Lamichhane suspended as HoR member following money laundering case"

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 24: Rabi Lamichhane, a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) elected from Chitwan-2, has been automatically suspended from his post, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

A notice issued by Federal Parliament General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey yesterday stated that Lamichhane's suspension followed Section 27 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064.

On Sunday, the District Police Office in Kaski informed the Speaker about a money laundering case filed against Lamichhane at the Kaski District Court. The Kaski Police subsequently sent a letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat requesting Lamichhane’s suspension from the HoR.

Meanwhile, Dol Prasad Aryal, the Deputy-Chairperson of the Rastriya Swantantra Party, has been appointed Acting Chairperson of the party following a decision made at a Secretariat meeting.
