"Nepal Health Conclave" to kick off today in capital
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 26: The Ministry of Health and Population is hosting the "Nepal Health Conclave" in Kathmandu today nd tomorrow to enhance the country's healthcare system and services.
According to the ministry, the two-day event aims to strengthen Nepal’s health system by leveraging the knowledge, skills, and resources of Nepali Diaspora health professionals in collaboration with local health and public health workers.
“The Nepal Health Conclave 2024 seeks to bridge the gap between global expertise and national needs by fostering collaboration between Nepali Diaspora health professionals and national stakeholders,” stated the ministry.
The conclave, organized under the theme "Connecting Diaspora for Healthcare Strengthening," has registered participation from 1,000 individuals across 90 countries. Among them, 300 will attend in person, while 700 will join virtually, according to Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
The ministry believes the conference will facilitate knowledge and technology exchange between the Nepalese Medical Diaspora and local healthcare providers. Dr. Budhathoki highlighted that the event aims to promote research, innovation, and training partnerships while shaping healthcare policies and strategies for sustained engagement.
Key themes of the conclave include global practices in Diaspora engagement, e-health and advanced health technologies, policy dialogue for long-term collaboration, and research, education, and innovation.
Furthermore, the conference is expected to lay the groundwork for a Nepal Medical Diaspora Engagement Framework. "The outcomes of this conference are anticipated to drive actionable policy recommendations, foster long-term collaboration between local and international healthcare professionals, and strengthen Nepal's healthcare system," Dr. Budhathoki stated.
