WFP provides relief support to 1,200 flood-affected households in Roshi

KAVREPALANCHOWK, DECEMBER 31: : Roshi Rural Municipality in [District Name] has received financial support from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for 1,230 families impacted by recent floods and landslides.

The devastating events, triggered by heavy rainfall on September 27-28, resulted in 12 fatalities, 482 completely destroyed homes, and 883 partially damaged residences.

WFP directly transferred cash relief to the beneficiaries' bank accounts, ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 per family, aligning with government guidelines. Prior to this, 108 families received support through the Catholic Relief Service (CRS).

The disaster inflicted significant damage, including the loss of cultivated land for 2,544 households, the destruction of 160 water supply projects, one bridge, 47 schools, and four health centers. Damphu Park, a 10-bed hospital, and a cold storage facility were also damaged.
