CIB raids call centre in Lalitpur, nabs 53 people

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 7: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has raided a call centre in Satdobato, Lalitpur, and arrested 53 individuals, including two Indian nationals, on charges of operating an online gambling operation.

CIB Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati, confirmed that the arrests were made in connection with the operation of an online casino. DSP Bogati stated that investigations are ongoing, with further inquiries planned after seeking an extension of the detention period from the court.

In the raid, authorities seized 85 laptop computers and 82 mobile phones from the suspects. It was also discovered that the group had been involved in various illegal activities, including online gambling.
