NEPSE increases by 1.83 points

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 15 : On Wednesday, Nepal’s stock market index (NEPSE) increased by 1.83 points, reaching 2595.96, following a decline of 15.54 points on Monday when it closed at 2594.13.

The sub-indices in sectors like development banks, hotels, and hydropower saw strong gains, while sectors such as banking and finance experienced declines. This led to a modest overall increase in the NEPSE. The total trading volume on Wednesday was NPR 5.82 billion, which was lower than the NPR 6.65 billion recorded on Monday.

Among the sectors, hydropower saw the largest increase, rising by 1.76%, followed by the hotel and tourism sector, which grew by 1.63%. In contrast, the finance sector faced a decline, with finance company shares dropping by an average of 3.5%.

Shares of Dolti Power and Super Madi Hydropower traded at positive circuit levels, while Nyadi Hydropower hit a 10% negative circuit. Other companies like Pokhara Finance, Janaki Finance, and Nepal Finance also saw significant losses.

In terms of trading volume, NRN Infrastructure and Development had the highest turnover, with NPR 32.5 million, followed by Super Madi Hydropower with nearly NPR 31 million in transactions.

In total, 299 companies traded 10.7 million shares on Wednesday.
