Lumbini Chapter of NATTA calls for narrowbody airlines base at GBIA

LUMBINI, JANUARY 28: The Lumbini Chapter of the Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA)  has called for the establishment of a narrowbody airline base at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA)  in Bhairahawa. NATTA believes the base will only be sustainable if narrowbody aircraft are used for routes to China, third-country Buddhist destinations, and labour destinations in Gulf countries.

This conclusion was reached during a workshop held in Butwal, as mentioned in a press release issued today. The press release, jointly signed by President Chandra Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Sita Basyal, also urged the government to develop more effective plans for the operation of the Bhairahawa airport.

In addition, NATTA has demanded the announcement of a promotional package to facilitate daily inter-provincial flights from at least one aircraft of every domestic airline for a set period. The association also called for the introduction of discounted bus and hotel services for international air travellers, as well as the adoption of passenger-friendly policies.

The press release further stated that a list of tourism programs for the year has been finalized through the planning workshop and fellowship program. The event, which took place under the leadership of Madhav Nepal, a member of the Lumbini Province Tourism Council, also led to the formation of several thematic committees, with 50 travel professionals in attendance.
