Banking services now available in all 753 local levels: Central Bank

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18: Nepal Rastra Bank has announced that commercial banking services have been expanded to all 753 local levels across the country. In a financial statement issued on Tuesday, the central bank confirmed that banking services are now accessible in every local unit.
The bank also urged the public to conduct secure banking transactions through licensed banks and financial institutions.
The statement read, “As part of Nepal Rastra Bank’s efforts to enhance financial inclusion and build a robust, inclusive, and sustainable banking system, Everest Bank Limited opened a branch in Saipal Rural Municipality of Bajhang district on Magh 28. With this, commercial banks now have branches in all 753 local levels nationwide.”
As of mid-January, the total number of commercial bank branches in Nepal reached 5,078. Including development banks, finance companies, and microfinance institutions, the total number of branches stands at 11,545.
On average, each branch serves approximately 2,526 people. These branches, licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank, provide a range of services, including savings and loan transactions, as well as digital banking through modern platforms.
