All three stations of Kulekhani Hydropower Project come into full operation

HETAUDA, MARCH 24: All three stations of the Kulekhani Hydropower Project in Makawanpur have begun operating at their full capacity. According to project officials, the stations were brought to full operation with the onset of the dry season.
As per Kulekhani I Station Chief Taradatta Bhatta, Kulekhani I is currently generating 60 megawatts, while Kulekhani II and Kulekhani III are producing 32 megawatts and 14 megawatts, respectively. The project operates as a run-of-river hydropower system.
At present, the project generates electricity for 14 to 16 hours daily, though it has the capacity to operate 24 hours a day based on demand.
During the first eight months of the current fiscal year (July 16, 2024 – March 13, 2025), Kulekhani I has generated 81,209 megawatt-hours of electricity, marking a significant increase from the 34,388 megawatt-hours generated during the same period last year.
