Ncell’s 18 for 18 Community Project receives “overwhelming” response
KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 23: With over 165 proposals from all 7 provinces, Ncell has received an overwhelming response to its 18 for 18 community project, an initiative under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the company. This was claimed by the company issuing a press communique yesterday. Ncell announced the launch of this programme to implement social projects at the community level on the occasion of the company’s 18th anniversary.
As part of the defined process, each proposal is being evaluated. Interested Not-for-Profit Organizations from all 7 provinces were requested to submit their proposals with potential community development projects by January 31, 2024, for collaboration with Ncell.
According to Ncell, it has received proposals for social initiatives in areas such as education, health, environment, disaster response and preparedness, and livelihood support, among others, that will benefit the community at large. Projects will be selected based on major parameters including the impact of the project at the proposed local level, sustainability, and scalability, among others.
Each selected project will be provided with financial assistance of up to a maximum of NPR 1 million. Under the 18 for 18 community project, the company will select a total of 18 projects. Two projects will be implemented in each province, and the remaining four projects will be added in selected provinces based on the impact that the projects can create at the community level of those provinces.
Aiming to support the government in achieving broader goals under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ncell has been driving CSR from the forefront. The company has contributed over NPR 1.80 billion under its CSR initiatives in focus areas of education, environment, and health, extensively supporting the government over the past 18 years.
Ncell is one of the largest taxpayers in Nepal. Ncell has contributed over NPR 300 billion (as of the FY 2022/23) as taxes and fees since its inception.
