call for application for Understanding Misinformation and Disinformation information
Kathmandu, March 17. Apply to Participate in the Provincial Workshop on Understanding Misinformation and Disinformation With the significant rise of information technology usage in Nepal, widespread misinformation and disinformation have been a growing problem.
The entire ecosystem of news/information, content creation and consumption are adversely affected. This is not just manipulating the public opinions, rationale, and verdicts but also misguiding the public perceptions. To address these issues, the Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy in Nepal is implementing the “Countering Misinformation and Disinformation” project.
As part of this initiative, YI-Lab will be organizing two-day training of trainers (ToT) workshop in all seven provinces of Nepal. These two-day residential workshops will be facilitated by expert teams in journalism and experienced professionals in communication and informative contents production.
The aim of these workshops is to empower young journalists, content creators, activists, and youth leaders by imparting knowledge and skills against misinformation and disinformation. Anyone interested to participate are encouraged to visit https://apply.shikshya.org/ and complete the online application form by 5 PM, 28 March 2023. A total of 140 training of trainers (ToT) from all around Nepal will be selected for the two-days residential workshop.
Successful applicants will be notified via email/phone. Early career journalists, content creators, and people from underrepresented and marginalized communities are encouraged to apply for these workshops
