Ang Tshiring Sherpa 2nd Memorial Golf Tournament
Kathmandu, March 12. Rabin Phuyal takes the lead on the first day of Ang Tshiring Sherpa 2nd Memorial Golf Tournament. On the event played over stableford format with 3/4 handicap Phuyal scored 43 point to take two-point lead over Niskarsha Ghale, who totaled 41 points. .
The best gross for the day went to Mithun Rai with 32 gross, Madhav Simkhada is second best with 30 gross points. In the women’s category, Gita Gurung took the lead after carding 34 points over Prativa Rai, who got 31 points to be at second place.
While, in the senior category of age 60 and above Brig General Dilip Rayamajhi is ahead with 36 points, Hemant Kolchapati second on the category with 35 points. Among the Juniors Aaesteena Tondon won with 10 points as all juniors played today. The most birdies is led by Pemba Sherpa with 4 birdies, the closest to the pin is led by Tara Karki Chitrakar, and the longest drive is by Ashaya Dhungana.
The inaugural event of the golf tournament started with Chanda Sherpa, Managing Director of Yeti Airlines, lighting a lamp followed by the adorning of the image of late Ang Tshiring with a ‘Khada’ at 8:00 am followed by a minute of silence in honour of late Ang Tshiring. The tournament officially started with Chanda Sherpa hitting the tee shot.
The two-day event at Gokarna Forest Resort, started off with the registration of 66 golfers at 7 in the morning along with the air hostesses from Yeti Airlines welcoming them. 90 golfers already registered for the tomorrow match.
