Transaction of Ncell shares to be investigated

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 6: The meeting of the ruling coalition parties held at the call of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, concluded that a serious probe and investigation should be conducted regarding the sale and purchase of shares of the private sector telecommunication service provider company, Ncell. The meeting held yesterday evening at the Prime Minister’s office residence, Baluwatar, decided that the government should be ready to investigate the matter and the Cabinet meeting should make necessary arrangements in this regard.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Rekha Sharma said that a high-level investigation committee will be formed at the next cabinet meeting to find out the truth about the Ncell shares purchase and sale. The government has already decided to conduct a necessary investigation regarding the matter, which leaders of the coalition partners supported. Minister Sharma also denied the involvement of top leaders of the coalition parties in the case. “If the top leaders had been involved, there would have been no decision to investigate it.  The government is committed to the rule of law and protecting the national interest”, she said.

Prime Minister Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, and Communications Minister Sharma and others participated in the meeting.
