No shortage of cooking gas: NOC assures consumers

Aarthiknews

Kathmandu, March 4. The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has said current import of cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas) is sufficient to meet the demand and urged consumers not to run after ‘false’ rumours that the country was facing its shortage. Consumers have been requested not to unnecessarily hoard the fuel.

The NOC gives its statement when the LPG dealers and bottlers have announced its programmes of protest demanding an increase in commission and talks between the NOC and suppliers have not reached to a conclusion. Stating that loading of cooking gas in Indian Oil Corporation’s refinery is going on and import is regular, the NOC asserted that there was no fuel shortage in market.

According to NOC spokesperson Birendra Goit, it imported 35,754 metric tonnes of cooking gas alone in February. As he said, efforts were on to address the demands of LPG distributors, seeking their attention to the sensitive issue related to the people’s daily life. Protest is not the appropriate way to seeking a solution to any issue, the NOC said. RSS
