Gaurika bags 12 gold medals in eighth National Games
Nepalgunj, April 24 . Gaurika Singh, who has made many national records in swimming, has set other records by winning the total 12 gold medals in the eighth National Games that concluded on Wednesday. Singh playing from the Tribhuvan Army Club bagged four gold medals in various categories on the final day of the Games.
“My win in the Games has given me additional encouragements,” said elated Singh. She broke her own previous record in the 50 meters freestyle swimming by finishing in 27.59 seconds. Earlier, she had completed it in 27.81 seconds.
Likewise, she has also smashed her own record in the 100 meters backstroke by completing in 1 minute 8.62 seconds. Earlier, she had taken 1 minute 9.30 seconds to complete it.
She also broke her previous record in the women’s 200 meters individual medley by finishing in 2 minutes 32 seconds. Earlier she had completed it in 2 minutes 32.51 seconds. She also won a gold medal in the women’s 4100 meters relay.
