BIRGUNJ, APRIL 7: Officials have reported an increase in the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Parsa National Park. Santosh Bhagat, the Information Officer of the National Park, confirmed that the number of Indian and domestic visitors has risen significantly compared to previous years.
In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the park welcomed a total of 613 tourists, compared to just 140 visitors during the same period the previous year. To ensure that tourists are well taken care of, a community homestay has been set up in the Sunakhari buffer zone area of the park, offering local cuisine and delicacies. Parsa National Park is home to a diverse range of endangered wildlife, as well as religious and natural heritage sites such as Kaminidaha Lake, Halkhoriyadaha and Laukidaha.
The park is also home to religious sites such as Mayamandir and Dugdheshwor Mahadev Mandir. Due to the availability of water sources in the park, the number of Royal Bengal tigers and other animals has increased. A tiger census conducted in 2022 found that the number of tigers in the park has reached 41. Recognizing its potential for tourism and infrastructure development, the Parsa Wildlife Reserve was declared a national park in 2074 BS.
